Inspired by the funeral industry related issues the goal of my project is to explore the potential economic value of mortality. Illustrating a fictional society in which extended consumerism belief system of its citizens has evolved and with it, created a new form of body disposal.
The funeral process in this hyper-efficient society is based on a scientific research and involves the procedure of turning the dead body into a useful biomass and breaking it down to the chemical level. When it is no longer needed, the body is seen as a sustainable resource of raw materials whereby the dead contributes to the economy.
Post-Life Material Contribution System provokes critical discussion about the body ownership, alternative body disposal systems and potential moral issues arising from the commodification of death.
